The following text describes the product:
The product is designed to comply with various industry standards, including NACE RP0375-2006, AS 4822-2008, ISO 21809-3:2008 and AWWA C217. It is specifically engineered to be applied to marginally prepared surfaces, as outlined in SSPC SP 2-3. Additionally, it can conform to irregular shapes and profiles, making it an ideal solution for challenging surfaces.
One of the unique features of the product is its ability to be applied to cold, wet surfaces without issue. Furthermore, it is impervious to water, acids, salts, or organic soil contaminants, making it a reliable option for highly corrosive environments.
The product has also been formulated to encapsulate lead paint safely. It contains no solvents, ensuring it is safer for the environment and personnel to use. Additionally, it can be easily applied from arctic to tropical temperatures, making it a versatile solution for different weather and site conditions.
Finally, the product is user-friendly as it is ready for use right after its application.
Applications:
Coating & Wrapping Application
In order to properly apply coating and wrapping to a surface, it is important to follow specific guidelines:
Temperature Requirements
The volume solution temperature of the surface being coated or wrapped must be maintained at or above 5℃. Additionally, the actual application should take place at a temperature of 5℃ or higher to ensure proper adhesion and curing.
Application Process
First, apply a thin coat of paste to the area. The paste should be applied to threads, cavities, shoulders, pits, and other irregularities. This will ensure that the paste fills in any crevices or gaps, creating a smooth surface for further coating and wrapping.
In areas with more significant irregularities, such as flanges and valves, stuff mastic into the uneven areas. The mastic should be molded and packed into the irregularities to eliminate bridging and voids.
Wrapping Process
Once the paste and mastic have been applied, wrap petrolatum tape tightly around the surface. This will ensure that the tape adheres firmly and creates a water-tight seal.
Finally, to protect the petrolatum tape from mechanical damage and provide better isolation from air, it is recommended to wrap PVC tape around the outside layer of the petrolatum tape.
